Guararapes MDF - Caçador/SC

Guararapes has started the operation of its new MDF plant, the largest one in the Americas and one of the most competitive ones on a global level. The new line is located in the Caçador industrial complex, central area of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina, where the company already owns two industrial plants. As a result, Guararapes is establishing itself among the largest wood panel manufacturers in the Americas.

This moment is a landmark for us and this industry and reasserts our position as one of the top players in the segment. We are going to offer an even more complete portfolio for both the domestic market and exports. And, of course, always with our focus on client service

Sustainability investment

Sustainability is one of Guararapes’ priorities. The new plant has a closed-circuit evaporator that receives the raw wastewater, separates the solid contents from liquids, and allows the condensate material to be reused in the industrial process.

For an even increased reuse of water, three large lakes have been built inside the plant’s area with a capacity of 38,132 cbm to collect rainwater. In addition to water from direct rainfall, the outdoor area of 243,568 sqm has also been entirely built with specific drainage for sending the rainwater into the lakes for further reuse.

 Economy and employment market

The new production line is going to create 280 direct jobs and 650 indirect jobs. During construction, over 700 people worked at the construction site, positively impacting the economy of the whole region.
